The UNSC Pierce the Heavens was a UNSC Heavy Destroyer, commanded by Captain Steele. It was constructed sometime before the Human-Covenant War. The ship saw heavy action during the Insurrection and the war with the Covenant Empire, perhaps the most decorated and experienced in UNSC history.
History

The ship was present during the closing years of Operation: TREBUCHET.
Human-Covenant War
Fall of Reach
Assisted in the evacuation of civilians on Reach by destroying a Covenant destroyer, and damaging two others, with the assistance of Legacy Team . The ship escaped the onslaught, making it back to Earth.
Search
The ship's slip-space signal slipped through around the colony Venezia in 2554.
Fate
During the Battle of Installation 00, the UNSC Pierce the Heavens was providing support for ground forces, but failed to pull out in time of the Installation's destruction. The ship was presumed destroyed in the blast by the Navy, search/recovery teams turned up with no remnants. A.I.'s investigating the destruction of the ship had concluded there should have been a large debris field. The investigating A.I.'s also stated in the report the similarities between this and this supposed "death" of Vice Admiral Preston Cole during the Battle of Psi Serpentis.
Arrival into 2nd Battle of Requiem
- Rolland: "Captain, I am detecting several anomalies on the planet, Requiem is lighting up."
- Captain Lasky: "Find out the cause."
- Rolland: "Tracking the source... that ship there captain, records show it was destroyed at the Battle of the Ark, sir."

Upon arriving at Requiem, the ship's communiction and detection software was damaged. Captain Steele ordered Legacy Team to deploy to the surface in a Pelican to see what they can gather. Upon a crash landing, Legacy Team was immediatly engaged by Covenant Forces. It was morning the next day before a small team of "UNSC" rescued them.
